Archibald Knox was born in the Isle of Man of Scottish parenthood. His designs were synonymous with British Art Nouveau and he is regarded as being a prominent influence in the Arts and Crafts movement. His Celtic designs and calligraphy are world famous and iconic in the Isle of Man. Today both his art work for Liberty & Co and his watercolours are highly sought after.

Our tour will include a visit to Cronkboure Village, Tromode birth place of Archibald Knox, access to the Knox archive at the Manx Museum, which includes Knox’s stunning silverware and watercolours and a trip to the ancient Monastic site of Maughold to view the ancient Manx Crosses and the Hall Caine memorial which was the last monument designed by Knox. The weekend will also include a tour of the work of H M Baillie Scott on the island.

You will have the pleasure of hearing two eminent speakers starting on Friday evening with Peter Kelly MBE, an architectural historian and leading light in the Isle of Man Victorian Society, who will talk about Baillie Scott and will be our guide on Saturday morning on a tour of Baillie Scott buildings. Liam O'Neill MA chairman/founder of the Archibald Knox Society lecture on the life and work of Archibald Knox.

The tour will also provide an opportunity to view the work of the renowned Manx artist J M Nicholson and the Irish stained glass genius Harry Clarke.
