Archibald Knox was born in the Isle of Man of Sscottish parenthood. His designs were synonymous with British Art Nouveau and he is regarded as being a prominent influence in the Arts and Crafts movement. His Celtic designs and calligraphy are world famous and iconic in the Isle of Man. Today both his art work for Liberty & Co and his watercolours are highly sought after.

The mission of the society is to promote the legacy of Archibald Knox both nationally and internationally, thus furthering the artistic and cultural identity of the Isle of Man and attributing to Knox his rightful place in the history of the decorative arts as one of the foremost artists/designers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The society was founded as a charity Feb. 2006 {Registered Charity No. 983 (Isle of Man)} and incorporated as a company limited by guarantee (Company No. 118177C).

MEMORANDUM OF ASSOCIATION

PAR 4. The objects of the Company shall be the charitable purposes of:-

the advancement of the education of the public both in the Isle of Man and world-wide in relation to the work of Archibald Knox, namely the Manx artist/designer and teacher of that name born in the Isle of Man in 1864 and who died there in 1933, and of his contemporaries in the field of the arts and, without limiting the generality of the foregoing, of painting, sculpture, design artefacts and all manner of artistic expression in the visual and literary arts.
